@ShannonKarleen @UWaterloo I graduated from UW comp sci after going in with a whole lot less in terms of qualifications: good marks but below 90% average, no robotics, only one thing you could even charitably call a "side hustle". It's no walk in the park, but she sounds like a person who'd excel.

@ShannonKarleen Also, I started in comp eng and switched into the math faculty after the first term. A friend started in math and switched to social science where his relative math expertise made him a star (and got him a PhD).

@ShannonKarleen Finally, co-op is the best thing. Lots of opportunity to try different things and find something you love; I've been gainfully employed in my field (for none of the companies I worked for, but using all of that knowledge and experience) since a month after I graduated.
